PMI CAQ for Information Technology Systems
The Project Management Institute, to which I am a member (and certified as well), has recently created a Certificate of Added Qualification (CAQ) for Information Technology-Systems. This is very exciting news for certified Project Management Professionals (PMP) that are in the world of IT. IT probably has among the worst project management practices of any industry (or at least for an industry that spends so much money). This certification will provide a credibility within the IT industry for PMI certified managers. PMI has been critisized by IT departments as being to general and not pragmatic. However, I think this CAQ will help improve the realtionship between PMI and the IT industry.
You can check out the details of the new CAQ here: Information Technology-Systems Certificate of Added Qualification (ITS CAQ) Exam. I plan on applying to take the test this month. I will post my progress in studying and my test results. Since the test is very new and there is very little information about the types of questions on the test, I may have to take it once just to see what I should study.
